Iranian authorities have sentenced a union activist to over four years in prison.
The Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company have announced that one of its members, Hassan Saeedi, has been sentenced to four years and one month in prison following a retrial.
Saeedi, currently held in Evin Prison, was initially handed a six-year sentence.
However, the Supreme Court granted his plea for a retrial, leading to the case being reassigned to a different court branch for review.
He is charged with "propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic."
Subsequently, the review resulted in a reduced sentence of four years and one month for the activist.
Saeedi was arrested on May 18, 2022, by security forces at his house, where they conducted a search and seized several of his possessions.
