Iran Summons Students Over Protest Against Rapper's Death Sentence

Another student has been summoned by the Evin Prosecutor's Office for protesting Toomaj Salehi's death sentence.

The summons follows a sit-in protest at the Tehran Music House by Khashayar Sefidi and Motahareh Goonei against the death sentence imposed on rapper Toomaj Salehi.

Security institutions have filed a case against them for this action. Goonei was arrested last week.

An image of Sefidi’s summons, published by the Amirkabir News Telegram Channel, shows he has five days to appear in court and defend himself.

Sefidi, a master’s student in music at Tehran University of Art, was previously suspended for a semester by the Ministry of Science.

Goonei, a former dental student and political secretary of the Islamic Association of Tehran University, was arrested by IRGC intelligence last Wednesday.
