The death of Mahsa Amini in "morality patrol" custody in Tehran has sparked a wave of grief and anger across the country and in cyberspace. The past few days have been marked by street protests in Tehran, at least 10 cities in Kurdistan province, Isfahan and Mashhad, attended by a cross-section of society, and by women and girls taking a stand against the state's misogynistic social prescriptions by removing and burning their hijabs in public.
